My classmate lives in Oklahoma, and until this year, he was making a good buck. The insurance covered almost everything he did, and he NEVER advertised because all his patients were potty-trained to go to their insurance handbook and see his name. Life was good.

Here's What Happened When The Local Job Market Dried Up
When The Biggest Employer Moved Overseas!

   You see, my friend NEVER did anything to find new patients on his own. He was content to be spoon-fed new patients by the local insurance companies. And when the local big employer moved overseas, there weren't many people left with insurance coverage in his area. His monthly collections went from $35,000 to around...

$5,000 a month!!!!!!!!!

   And there was only one problem: He was still living like he was collecting $35K per month. Ouch!

   I sent an email back to my buddy telling him he was "fishing with one pole" in a dried-up pool of new patients. He needed to have multiple poles in the water... plus... he needed to dip them into a brand new pool. Let me tell you about... 

How The Local Bingo Lady Taught
Me An Amazing Marketing Lesson

   I live in Waterford, Wisconsin. It's not a big city, and we only have a population of around 2,000. Oh, there is also a sign on the opposite end of town with "Pop. 4044" on it. However, this is a handwritten sign that was put up by our mayor to make us look like a big city.

   Now, we don't get  many new movers to our area every month. In fact, we only get about 100 new residents every month. Some days, it seems like 100 move out every month too! (Only joking.) I saw some research awhile ago that states the average American moves every THREE years!

   Anyway, my mother dragged me to "Bingo" at the local church a few years ago. I guess she needed a ride, and she figured I needed to get out and mingle with the locals on a Saturday night.

   I bought one Bingo Card for a buck and sat down at a crowed table in the smoke-filled church basement. The local Bingo Lady sat across from me and she was working with 18 Bingo Cards... and... I sat there with my one measly card. She was also working three cigarettes: One in her hand, one in the ashtray, and the other in her mouth. Yep, life was good that night.

   Here's the marketing lesson the town's Bingo Lady taught me that night: "Have more than one source for winning." Check this out. She won three times that night. I remember she won a total of $600 with about $100 invested in Bingo Cards.

   I bought a couple Bingo Cards that night... one at a time... and I didn't win squat. I wish I could tell you I scored a couple new patients that night... but, no. I couldn't even get the priest to bless my Bingo Card and he WAS a patient.

   So back to my story... I learned that the more stuff you have working for you, the better your odds are of winning. And this is a perfect example of having "many poles in the water" just like Ben teaches. And this approach is almost a sure bet if you don't screw it up.

One of my favorite "poles in the water" is going after
all those New Movers / New Residents. Why?

* These folks are moving into town month after month after month... they always have, and they always will, so this a source of new patients that is constantly replenishing itself

* Many of these New Movers frequented a chiropractor where they used to live and they're arriving without a nest within which to roost... and...

* They're anxious and motivated to find a NEW chiropractor who will take care of them and will be just as good as their old one. That'd be us!

   Now you'd think this would be a no-brainer opportunity that every Doctor would be taking advantage of. But most are not. And those that are have been doing it ALL WRONG which means they've gotten poor results and probably don't do it anymore.

   Cha-ching! That just makes my job a whole lot easier. In fact I'd like to tell you why I think 90% of D.C.'s don't go after new residents. I'd like to teach you the...

3 Mistakes Being Made in the Way
Chiropractors Market for New Resident!

   The first mistake being made is using "Me Too" advertising. It shouldn't shock you to learn that you won't be the only doctor or business trying to solicit the new resident!

   Yet I'd say 95% of the letters, postcards, and offers received by the new resident looks...

Identical!

   If your competitor says he graduated from XYZ Chiropractic College & then you put that in your ad too. If he says he gives a FREE CONSULTATION, then you put that in your ad too. Whatever he does, you cry out: "Me Too."

   Here's the problem: Do what everyone else does, and you'll get the same poor results. What I'm suggesting is a totally, radically different, bold, new and unique approach... that makes YOU stand out from all the other people sending them offers to come in.

   The bottom line is that Ben and I have discovered several ways, a system actually, for "leap-frogging" over your competition and leaving them in the dust when dealing with new movers.

   The second mistake being made by virtually everyone...

   ...is that they're only contacting a new resident ONCE instead of viewing this as a multiple step, multi-pronged marketing sequence.

   95% of those businesses chasing new residents never send a follow up after the first letter! Do you realize the opportunity this creates for us?

   Let's put it this way. We would all like to send one piece of mail and get a new patient every time. However, it doesn't work like that. There's something called a Sine Wave. This is a wave that goes up and down.

   Some days your prospects are going up the sine wave and they think they don't need a chiropractor right now. Other days, they are heading down the wave and your letter arrives at "the perfect timing."

   You never know where they are on the sine wave. This is why you must, I repeat MUST think in terms of a multiple step campaign vs. a one step. It will mean the difference between pathetic results vs. spectacular results. Guaranteed!

   Quite simply, we're going after those folks who previously had a chiropractor. Of those, we know with certainty that a percentage are ready and NEED a chiropractor this instant. Others not yet. So in a nutshell that's why you have to make several contacts: You never know where they are on any given day.

   You might be wondering... What approach will work the absolute best to get their attention? And, what would a multiple step campaign actually look like?
